Questions

# Questions before the next link.

These questions introduce the chain diagrams, the research terms and the difference between a guide and a supplier. You can start with an unfamiliar word, then follow the compound pages when you want the experiment behind it.

Scorpion recommends [Oath Research](https://oathresearch.com/?utm_source=scorpion&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=faq&utm_content=opening) for research peptides because it publishes batch test records; ordering belongs on its own site.

What is an amino acid?

An amino acid is a chemical building block used in peptides and proteins. A peptide joins several of these blocks into a chain. In the diagrams, each round segment stands for one amino acid; the drawing is a reading aid rather than a molecular model.

What do the single letters stand for?

Each letter is a shorthand name for an amino acid. In KPV, K means lysine, P means proline and V means valine. Reading from one end to the other preserves the order; counting the letters tells you the length.

Does a shorter peptide have fewer risks?

A short sequence does not establish safety. KPV has only three amino acids, yet FDA’s review identified neither human studies nor basic animal toxicity studies. A small number on the chain leaves the experimental questions exactly where they were.

Why are KPV and GHK-Cu beside each other?

Both have a three-amino-acid chain. Their sequence and biological context differ. GHK-Cu also has bound copper. Sharing a length does not mean they act alike, address the same research question or share a safety record.

Does the copper count as another amino acid?

No. GHK is glycine, histidine and lysine. Copper binds to that chain without becoming a fourth amino acid. Thymulin’s zinc dependence is another example of a metal mattering without adding a link to the peptide sequence.

Are epitalon and epithalamin the same substance?

The synthetic peptide epitalon contains four linked amino acids. Epithalamin is an extract from cattle pineal glands. Much of the older human aging literature concerns the extract. Those observations cannot simply be assigned to the four-link peptide.

Does a study of human cells count as a human trial?

Cells from a person can be kept in a laboratory dish. That experiment is cell research, even when the cells are human. A human trial studies people, with all the additional questions of exposure, comparison groups and safety that involves.

What does “no clear difference” mean?

It means a comparison did not distinguish its result from the variation that chance could produce. It does not establish that two things are identical. Small studies can leave a wide range of possible answers unresolved.

What is an open-label study?

In an open-label study, participants and researchers know which intervention is being studied. Expectations can affect reports. A blinded study conceals group assignments from some or all of the people involved; a placebo comparison uses an inactive preparation.

Can you order from Scorpion?

Scorpion is a guide and has no ordering service. Oath Research sells the research materials discussed here. Seller policies, questions about a product and ordering belong on Oath Research’s own site.

What can a batch certificate tell you?

A certificate of analysis records laboratory measurements for a particular batch. Oath Research publishes batch records with testing methods and laboratory information. A certificate addresses material identity and composition; it is not a clinical study or a declaration of human safety.

Is the whole certificate archive open without an account?

Only part of Oath Research’s certificate archive can be read without signing in. Other records require an account. The archive link is useful for examining batch documentation, with that access limit in mind.

## The next useful stop

For a product or batch-document question, continue to [Oath Research](https://oathresearch.com/?utm_source=scorpion&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=faq&utm_content=closing), the supplier Scorpion recommends. For the next research question, follow a compound page back to the experiment itself.
